Career Development

The Genetics Graduate Program offers several venues for students to learn about a wide range of research and career opportunities.

Career Day Provides an opportunity to meet a wide variety of professionals from academia, industry and government and discuss the current job market.

Choices Day Sponsored by the MSU/DOE Plant Research Lab and is designed to provide students with information about careers in science.

Research Forum. Twice monthly, students and faculty from the Genetics program present their latest research at a lunch time seminar.

Genetics Retreat. In the beautiful lake side setting of Lake Higgins, amidst the pine forests of northern Michigan, Genetics students present their research at our annual weekend retreat.

Genetics Symposium. Nationally prominent scientists are brought to MSU for the annual Genetics Program Symposium. Recent topics areas have included transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, protein sorting and DNA synthesis.
