Symposia

The Genetics Program offers an annual symposium; usually based on the topic of one of the Genetics 800 seminar courses offered that year. Five or six nationally prominent researchers in the topic of study are brought to campus for a one day event.

The Roots of Immunity:
Plant and Invertebrate Defenses Against PathogensOur next symposium will be on pathogens on October 3, 2004 at the Kellogg Center, MSU. The symposium is in conjunction with the Microbial Pathogenesis Regional Meeting to be held on MSU campus October 1-3, 2004.
Genetic Symposium Speakers:
Jules A. Hoffmann, CNRS, Inst Biol Mol & Cellulaire, France (insects)
Thomas Boller, Institute of Botany, University of Basel, Switzerland (plants)
Man-Wah Tan, Department of Genetics, Stanford University (nematodes)
"Plant and Invertebrate Defenses Against Pathogens" will be the topic for the Fall 2004 GEN 800, Section 001, course offered by Drs. Suzanne Thiem and Sheng Yang He.
