NSC 491: Job and Internship Search Strategies

Do the stuff you know you need to do--and get credit for it!

This one-credit course focuses on helping you finding a job or internship by showing you how to:

  • Research companies and non-profits
  • Identify your skills
  • Write professional resumes and coverletters
  • Interview effectively
  • Manage your money after graduation

There are two different sections of this course, since different disiplines have different hiring timelines:

FALL 2007: Job & Internship Search in Lab Science & Industry
For students looking for positions in biomedical, pharmaceutical, & other industries

SPRING 2008: Job & Internship Search in Environmental Science
For students looking for field biology positions with non-profits, zoos, governments, and other conservation organizations

These courses are ONLY open to students who will have Junior or Senior standing in the College of Natural Science by Fall 2006.

NOTE:
These courses will NOT cover admission to professional schools such as DVM, MD, or DO school. We will, however, briefly discuss graduate research degrees (MA/PhD), and graduate school admissions.
